Germans Protest proposed taxes on energy consumtion

Protesters will hit the streets of Berlin today in opposition to proposed changes to Germany’s energy policy including plans for a levy on self-consumption.

Demonstrators have been asked to meet outside the Federal Economy Ministry building in Berlin. Following German elections in September, a new German ‘superministry’ has taken responsibility for energy and the economy. Sigmar Gabriel, leader of junior coaliton partner the SPD has taken charge of the new department.
