During a search for mailing lists I stumbled upon Accurate Mailing Services in Phoenix Arizona. I'm so glad that I did! They are master brokers for InfoUSA , Experian and Equifax. I was able to buy the exact list that I was looking for at about half the going price. I saved a bundle of money.
As it turns out, almost all of the mailing lists in the country are compiled by only a few companies. Most of these companies make their money (primarily) by collecting and rating consumer credit information - they are credit bureaus. Almost as a sideline, they also sell mailing lists. Great Source For Mailing Lists
During a search for mailing lists I stumbled upon Accurate Mailing Services in Phoenix Arizona. I'm so glad that I did! They are master brokers for InfoUSA , Experian and Equifax. I was able to buy the exact list that I was looking for at about half the going price. I saved a bundle of money.
As it turns out, almost all of the mailing lists in the country are compiled by only a few companies. Most of these companies make their money (primarily) by collecting and rating consumer credit information - they are credit bureaus. Almost as a sideline, they also sell mailing lists. Most have branched out into offering business mailing lists as well.They sell their information to end users, as well as mailing list brokers and commercial mailing companies. Brokers buy their lists at various discount prices based upon their volume.
For the most part, you'll find that the brokers price for a mailing list is pretty much the same as it would be if you purchased it directly from the compiler. Same list - same price - give or take a penny or so. I was lucky to find a master broker, Accurate Mailing Services. They apparently sell mailing lists in such large volumes that they can offer huge discounts. The representative that I talk to, explained that they even sell to other list brokers and mail houses.
These days there are many online mailing list services. The idea is that you can search for your target audience, find out how many there are, and down load the list instantly off the Internet. While that sounds convenient, and it is, there can be a high price to pay for that convenience. Actually, in most cases, the price is outrageous. Then there's the problem of knowing that you're getting the right mailing list. If you're experienced in purchasing mailing lists, you probably won't have any problems, other than you'll be paying too much. But if you're not used to purchasing mailing lists you may end up getting the wrong data entirely.
What I liked about working with Accurate Mailing Services is the fact that they took the time to ask me how I intended to use the mailing list. Since they are also in the bulk mailing business, they were able to guide me through options that I never knew existed. I ended up saving an incredible amount of money, both on the mailing list and on the postage rate. Since I was mailing to about 5,000 addresses, the savings amounted to quite a large sum.
So the lessons that I learned is to shop for a mailing list carefully. Don't think that because you're buying it directly from a large, well known company that you're getting the best price or that the data is better than what a legitimate broker is selling. Then, among the brokers, make sure that you are purchasing your mailing list at the best possible price. Remember that there are master brokers who can give you a better deal than a regular mailing house or a broker. Finally, if you intend to send direct mail at discount postage rates. Be sure that you're dealing with the broker that understands the effects of mailing lists on those postage rates.
