Obama: A President Without Courage

A PRESIDENT WITHOUT COURAGE

At approximately 1 hour and 2 minutes into the second Presidential debate of October 16, 2012, President Obama characterized Governor Romney as being harsh on illegal immigrants.  While the Governor had a response, it was a little weak.

Here's what he should have said:
George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are arguably the most revered of our Presidents. Both of these great men have one thing in common - our borders.  George Washington spilled blood during the Revolutionary War and was himself a hunted man during his bold and courageous campaign to create the borders of the United States of America.   Abraham Lincoln spilled blood during the Civil War to maintain the borders of the United States of America.  Mr. Lincoln, in fact, lost his life because of his courageous stand on behalf of our borders.  When it came your turn to defend the borders of this nation, Mr. President, you cowered.

You criticize me for believing in a concept as mild as self-deportation. You characterize my plan as "making life so miserable on folks that they'll leave".  Well, Mr. President I happen to believe that people who defy the laws of another nation, who steal the opportunity of a lifetime from others by cutting in line in front of them should be made to feel miserable, and unlike you, I'm not afraid to place ownership of their transgression squarely upon their shoulders.  When did it become the policy of this nation that those who created the problem, knowing every step of the way that it was wrong, are excluded from feeling any pain for it?

My plan is simple, fair, and strong.  Under my plan, if you are in this country illegally, you are in this country illegally.  Those are the terms under which you chose to enter this country and those terms will not change.  We will not deport you nor will we round you up.  But know this.  You are in this country illegally and at any time during the course of your life, if you are discovered, the laws of this nation will be applied to you. You will not be welcomed by us, you will not receive benefits from us, and you will not receive protection from us. That is the message that I will send, not only to those who are currently in this country illegally, but also to those who are contemplating coming to this country illegally.  I’m sure my stance sounds a little harsh to you, Mr. President, but I know of two former Presidents who would rather stand with me than with you.

  1. Absolutely correct. I couldn't agree more and I suspect many other true, loyal, patriotic Americans believe the same.
